This is a road car, and in Georgia that is a real category: the coastal highway to Batumi, the run through Kakheti's wine country, the Military Highway to Kazbegi and arriving somewhere that cares how you arrive. It has all-wheel drive and will handle a gravel driveway without complaint, but it is not the car for mountain tracks - the low, wide stance that makes it superb on asphalt is exactly wrong on a rutted village road. For anything past the pavement take a Forester or a 4Runner.
Living with it
The most powerful car we rent and the one people book for a specific occasion rather than a general trip. Five seats, a coupe roofline that trades some rear headroom and boot height for the way it looks, petrol, automatic. Worth knowing before you book: it is the most expensive car in the fleet to run as well as to rent, and Georgian fuel stations outside the cities are not uniformly premium. On a long mountain itinerary, something in the middle of the fleet will be the better week.
