Where the Jeep Renegade takes you
The cheapest four-wheel drive we rent, and it covers far more of Georgia than the price suggests. Gravel side roads, the climbs into Kakheti's vineyards, the rough streets of Stepantsminda and Mestia, the final broken stretch to David Gareja - all comfortably within reach. In summer that includes Ushguli on the sealed road. What it will not do is the Abano Pass into Tusheti or hardcore tracks like Koruldi Lakes; those need a body-on-frame 4Runner. If your trip is mostly asphalt with gravel excursions, this is the honest budget answer.
Living with it
Short, boxy and genuinely easy to place on a narrow street, which is worth a lot in Tbilisi, Sighnaghi or Mestia. Five seats, a square boot that swallows more than its footprint implies, petrol and automatic. The 2015-2017 cabin is the older of our two Renegades and shows it in the infotainment rather than anywhere that matters mechanically - if you would rather have the newer interior, that is the 2018-2021 car.
