Somewhere in a chat window, your Georgia trip already exists. The assistant helped you pick the week, talked you out of squeezing Svaneti and Kazbegi into the same three days, and found that khinkali place in Pasanauri. Then came the part where it says: now go to a booking site, fill in the forms, good luck. As of this week, that handoff is gone - the same conversation can book the car.

werent.ge now speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol) - the open standard that lets AI assistants use real services, the same one behind Claude's connectors and ChatGPT's apps. What 'agentic-friendly' actually means

This year AI assistants stopped being advice machines and started doing things: booking tables, ordering groceries, planning and paying. The industry calls it agentic commerce, and most of it runs on closed checkout systems built around online payment. But renting a car in Georgia never needed online payment in the first place. At WeRent you book free, confirm by email and pay at pickup with zero deposit - and that model turns out to be a perfect fit for AI agents: there is no card to hand over, so there is nothing sensitive for the assistant to touch.

The tools your assistant gets are not some separate 'AI version' of WeRent. What it can do - and what it deliberately can't

• See every car that is actually free for your dates, with per-day and whole-trip totals
• Price the exact combination: insurance upgrade, child seat, a car with driver, one-way Tbilisi to Batumi
• Submit the booking with your contact details and language - confirmations arrive in English, Russian or Hebrew
• Check the status of an existing booking by its reference number

And the guardrails. The assistant cannot pay - there is nothing to pay online. It cannot confirm the booking for you: every request starts as 'submitted', we email you the confirmation link, and only your click makes it final. It cannot invent availability - if a car is taken, the tools say so. And behind all of it, the same humans still review every request, one WhatsApp message away.

Why we did this

Because trip planning already moved into the chat window, and booking is following it there. As far as we can tell, WeRent is the first car rental in Georgia - and one of the first anywhere - that AI assistants can book directly. When someone asks their assistant to plan a Georgian road trip, we want it to be able to finish the job: the mountains, a proper 4x4 and the keys waiting at the airport.
